Message It's 1:30am, I get a call from my dad.
Dad: "Scott, slight emergency... I was driving home from work and ran through a puddle that ended up being much deeper than I thought, I'm stuck in the middle of the road"
Me: "%$&#, what did the car do?"
Dad: "It just shut off"
Me: "Stay there, I'm on my way"

Little did I know I was about to witness a flooding unlike ANYTHING I or my dad has ever seen in seattle. I arrive on the scene about 50 yards away from my dad's car, where the pool starts. I look out and see a lone white Z with it's parking lights on. The lights are sitting at water level... "Oh noooo" I say to myself.

I get out of my car with dad on the phone
Dad: "I'm stuck here, the water is inside the car up on the seat"
Me: "Did you call AAA?"
Dad: "Heh, yeah, the a$$holes said they'd be here in an hour"
Me: "WHAT?? F&^# that, call them back tell them you're flooding, get here NOW!"
Dad: "K, calling them now"

Police show up, and they call their own tow service for the Z. About 15 later the AAA towtruck shows up. I talk to the guy and tell him...

Me: "You're going to have to back up to the z and tie a rope to the tow hook and pull him out"
Driver: "Oh I can't do that, I can't get that close"

What he's saying is he doesn't want to get his feet wet.. he's wearing shorts. The driver bails, we're alone yet again. About another 30 mins go by waiting as I run frantically around the flood TRYING to find a shallow spot, none exists. His car is surrounded by 50 yards of knee high water on all sides. Where he was was actually the highest point of the road, the water was deeper everywhere else. I call and tell him, screw this, put the car in neutral I'm coming out to push you.

I wade out to his car, with water literally up to my knee cap, and together we manage to push his z about 75 yards out of the water to dryness. Finally another flatbed shows up, a little while later it is towed home.

Pulled all the spark plugs, pulled the seats out, and found what I was fearing. There was about 2" of standing water on the carpet inside, but what gave me chills was when I pulled the intake pipe going to the throttle body... water poured out. Yes, there is water filling up the ENTIRE intercooler piping tract. With the rubber pipe off, the top of the water is even with the edge of the hardpipe, meaning it was at the height of the plenum, with standing water...

The engine is toast :( but I'll be building another one for him, sometime soon. Sorry for no pics, I took a few crappy ones with my crappy phone, and will try and upload them later. The whole incident seems surreal. RIP to one of the most immaculate stock engines I've ever seen in a Z, the thing pulled like no other stage 3 I've been in :(
